Cardiff Met Students’ Union has linked with Student Volunteering Cardiff (SVC) to increase our range of volunteer opportunities available for students. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

SVC is a student-led charity providing volunteering opportunities to students and community members living in Cardiff. Their aim is to enhance the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the Cardiff community. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

SVC’s projects have been open to Cardiff Met students since the 2015-16 academic year, however, this year, we are hoping to increase the up-take of students volunteering on their projects. 40 Cardiff Met students are signed up to SVC’s projects so far this term. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A member of staff from SVC will be based in the Students’ Union Llandaff office every Tuesday between 9-5, so if you would like to find out more about their projects, please come along and speak to them. Or, if you’re unable to come in on a Tuesday, please ask an SU staff member for more information and collect an SVC project booklet. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

SVC has 25 different volunteer projects for students to choose from and the time commitment between projects varies, so whether you have little or many hours to spare, there should be something to suit you. Their projects range from supporting: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

  • Homeless people
  • Children and young people
  • Those with disabilities
  • The environment

The Students’ Union has organised a joint one-off project with SVC on 21st October where we will be going with a group of volunteers to the Amelia Trust Farm, a working farm which provides an alternative education for young people with learning difficulties. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
