University Creatives Draw Support For Children’s Hospice
Cardiff University is inviting staff, students and graduates to be part of an exciting public art trail across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Tŷ Hafan, the only children’s hospice in south Wales, will host its Snowdogs: Tails in Wales campaign this autumn to raise money for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
The campaign will see a pack of 1.5m-high Snowdog sculptures given a unique design by artists before they are unleashed on iconic buildings, streets and open spaces for friends and families to follow.
The Snowdogs will then be auctioned to raise money for the children’s hospice.
Artists are being asked to submit designs to paint the Snowdog sculptures and as one of the first organisations to sponsor a Snowdog for the trail, Cardiff University is inviting its creative community to get in touch and lend their support.
Project Manager Helen Gibbons said: “Our Snowdog sculptures are based on the much-loved Raymond Briggs novel and animation The Snowman and The Snowdog…”
“If you are an artist, whether you’re well-known or undiscovered, please get in touch with your ideas and lend your creative flair to help raise money for the families we support at Tŷ Hafan.”
Artists who are selected to take part in the trail will receive £850 and their work will be showcased to a mass audience in some of Wales’ most famous public spaces.
Artist packs and application forms can be downloaded at the Snow Dogs: Tails in Wales website.
Applications close at 5pm on 28 April 2017, designs will be shortlisted in May and sculptures decorated during June and July.
