Ammanford Man Fined For Dropping Serviette

An Ammanford man has been fined for dropping a serviette in the town’s Quay Street. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Llanelli Magistrates Court convicted Richard Lloyd Ellis in his absence last Friday of an offence of littering. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The court heard that on Tuesday February 16 this year 23-year-old Ellis was seen by Carmarthenshire County Council environmental enforcement officers to drop a serviette onto the ground in Quay Street. He was issued with a £75 fixed penalty notice which he failed to pay. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Ellis, of Tan y Fan, Capel Hendre, was fined £220 and ordered to pay £239 costs and a £22 victim surcharge. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Council executive board member for environmental and public protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Our officers carry out patrols across the county and will take action against anyone who is seen dropping litter. The council has made it a priority to keep the county clean for both residents and visitors.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
