Carmarthenshire Libraries Scoops Top Award
Carmarthenshire libraries have come out on top in a national marketing competition.
The team were named the best in The Marketing Excellence Awards, held at The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, after demonstrating their successful delivery of online resources.
Staff were competing against library, archive and museum services across the length and breadth of Wales.
The Marketing Excellence Awards recognise the fantastic work being done by staff who often work with limited resources.
The council executive board member, Cllr Meryl Gravell, said: “Once again Carmarthenshire Libraries has hit the headlines for the positive work being done. To be recognised as the best in Wales for the delivery of online resources is a fantastic achievement especially in such challenging times.”
Earlier this year Llanelli Library was recognised as third in the top five list of libraries with the highest lending figures for books and other loans in the UK.
The council’s library services manager, Mark Jewell said: “We are thrilled to have been given this award especially as we were up against some tough competition from services across Wales. The judging panel were really impressed with our innovative ideas and creativity.”
Carmarthenshire libraries staff received a commemorative glass trophy and certificate, along with a £500 amazon gift voucher to further develop services.
Cabinet Secretary for economy and infrastructure, Ken Skates, said: “The standard of this year’s entries has been excellent, demonstrating good practice across all sectors with some really innovative ideas. Many of the entries show what can be done with a very small budget and a lot of creativity and the ideas are examples of marketing practice that would be applied to any business or organisation within Wales.”
