Councillor Eryl Morgan Is The New Chair Of Carmarthenshire County Council For The Year 20167-17

Cllr Morgan was elected as Chair at the Annual Meeting of the County Council and Cllr Irfon Jones was elected as Vice Chair. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A native of Llanelli, Cllr Morgan lives in the town’s Capel Isaf Road. He was educated at Halfway Primary School and Llanelli Grammar School, before studying at Ruskin College, Oxford, and through the Open University. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Morgan is married to wife Jean, who is Chair’s Consort and has a daughter Georgina Estelle. He represents the county’s Bigyn ward and is a retired Social Worker and Probation Officer. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Morgan’s interests are general sports and he is a former soccer referee and qualified football coach. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The new Vice Chair Cllr Irfon Jones hails from Bronwydd, where he still lives. He is married to Jean and has two children Paul and Sharon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
