Festival To Showcase Hockey Skills

It was sticks to the ready as over 50 schoolchildren took part in a hockey festival. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Some eight primary schools including Hendy, Bryn, Tycroes and Swiss Valley came together to show off their hockey skills. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A mix of Year 5 boys and girls spent the morning at Hendy Park with sport and leisure officers developing their abilities and competing against each other. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Carmarthenshire County Council’s sport and leisure team linked in with Hendy Community & Parks Committee and Llanedi Community Council to organise the morning event. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The council’s sport and leisure officer, Ali Discombe said: “Everyone had a great time and it was the perfect opportunity for them to experience a competitive game.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Hockey sessions are held at Hendy MUGA every Friday between 6-7pm for ages five plus. The classes are fun and engaging, and are run by qualified coaches. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
