Footpath improvement works

Footpaths throughout Carmarthenshire are having a makeover. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Work is well underway improving over 20kms of footpaths across the country as part of The Rights of Way Improvement Plan Funding Programme. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Some £55k of works will make paths more accessible to walkers and will include new signage, bridging and surfacing with links to the Wales Coast path in Llangain. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Welsh Government project is managed by Natural Resources Wales and implemented by Carmarthenshire Council’s countryside team. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The council’s executive board member for leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “These works enhance our rights of way network and make it more accessible for the public to explore our beautiful countryside.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The project has also included the revision and updating of 5 County Walk leaflets covering Llwynywormwood, Llansteffan, Drefach Velindre, Cwmdu and Llandovery. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
