Get Ready To Bag A Bargain In First Student Lock-In!

Students across the county are signing up to make big savings on their shopping as part of the county’s first ever Student Lock-In event. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Hundreds of students are expected to join in the national shopping event on September 27 when they’ll be able to snap up huge bargains and cut-price products from over 30 participating shops, cafes and restaurants across Carmarthen town centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Carmarthenshire County Council’s economic development team has teamed up with the University of Wales Trinity St David (UWTSD) to bring the Student Lock-In to Carmarthen for the first time. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Students must sign up to take part, and by wearing the Lock-In wristband at participating retailers and food outlets, they’ll be able to take advantage of the exclusive discount and get their hands on the best buys. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Meryl Gravell, Carmarthenshire County Council Executive Board Member for regeneration, said: “The Student Lock-In has become a really popular national event, and we’re so pleased to be bringing it to Carmarthen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“As well as supporting local businesses and encouraging new trade, it will be a great opportunity for students to explore Carmarthen town. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Shops in St Catherine’s Walk are amongst the businesses offering the Lock-in discount, alongside a range of others including Tresspass, Animal, Saltrock, WHSmiths, Marks & Spencer, Boots, EE, Caffi’r Atom and The Parrott. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

John Nash, manager of St Catherine’s Walk, said: “We are really excited to be part of Carmarthen’s very first Student Lock-In. Our shops are offering some fantastic discounts and promotions including TopShop, River Island, New Look and Tiger. We know it’s going to be a great success and are looking forward to this becoming an annual fixture in the town’s calendar.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Students yet to sign up are encouraged to do so at www.studentlockin.com/carmarthen. Wristbands will be provided and must be worn in order to get the Lock-In discount. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event starts at 6pm, and there will be information points across town. Last-minute registrations and late wrist-band collections from 5pm at the Guild Hall and Market Clock Tower. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
