North Wales Business Roadshow Is A Success
Small businesses from across Denbighshire have been showing off their big ideas.
Traders from across the county attended the Small Business Saturday bus visit to Denbigh on November 10.
Saturday, December 3 is designated Small Business Saturday, a major campaign which aims to raise the profile of small businesses in communities across the UK.
Leader of Denbighshire County Council, councillor Hugh Evans, said: “Having Denbigh as the only North Wales stop for the Small Business Saturday bus was a real boost for the town.
“Denbighshire traders came out to showcase the range of businesses and services we have in the county.
“As a Council we really want to encourage shoppers to take advantage of what is on their doorstep this Christmas. Small Businesses Saturday is a great opportunity for shoppers to come out and see what they have on their local high street.
“We would encourage businesses to make the most of one of the busiest shopping days of the year.”
During the visit businesses held demonstrations and displays in Crown Square and at Denbigh Town Hall.
Hal Holmes-Pierce, aged 28, owner of Elevate Your Sole shoe shop in Prestatyn, said: “It was great to see so many people come out and support the bus visit. It is a great turn out with lots of enthusiastic people.
“It is important to get the message out that there are great shops and services in the local area. It is about getting people to realise the beautiful array of shops we have locally and the choice that comes with that.”
Richard Brady, aged 35, who lives in Denbigh and runs Denbigh Army Surplus and Recruit Packs, said: “Small Business Saturday gives independent businesses like Denbigh Army Surplus the opportunity to reach potential customers that may not know we exist.
“The campaign promotes small companies across the whole of the UK using their social media channels, which gives us a much bigger voice.”
Mr Brady, who is also vice chair of Denbigh Business Group, added: “I think last year, small business took nearly 25 per cent more on Small Business Saturday than they did the year before and I’m really hoping we see the same again next month.
“People need to know about us though; there’s no point assuming that we’re going to take more money on December 3.
“Doing something special on the day and telling people about it will encourage new customers.”
Denbighshire County Council will support Small Business Saturday with a promotional campaign to remind people to support their local shops and businesses across the county.
