Peace Run Comes To Carmarthenshire

THE Chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council has welcomed a peace run to the National Botanic Garden. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths was at the Garden to welcome the participants in the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

They arrived at the Garden on Sunday morning before the start of a 5km race and 2.5km Fun Run at 9am. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Hughes Griffiths presented the prizes before helping Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas to unveil a peace statue in a new peace garden area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

He said: “It was excellent. We unveiled a bronze statue at the Botanic Garden. I’m pleased to support the effort to promote peace in this country and internationally.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Hughes Griffiths again met the peace runners on Monday morning when they called in at County Hall before moving on to Ysgol y Dderwen to meet the Town Mayor and Headteacher. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
