Support Offered For Naval Service Veterans And Personnel
FORMER Royal Marines or Naval Service personnel in Carmarthenshire are being offered support from a national organisation.
The Naval Families Federation (NFF) has contacted Carmarthenshire Armed Forces Covenant to help veterans and serving personnel.
Regional Liaison Officer for the West of England and Wales Peter Hawley said: “My objective is to work closely with regional government, RN/RM units, forces charities and support groups to reach out to naval families, and help them flourish within their chosen communities.
“I have recently left the Royal Marines after 32 years of service, having spent the last 13 years as a welfare officer with Royal Navy and Royal Marines Welfare.
“During this time I had the privilege and honour of supporting Royal Marines and Royal Naval Service personnel and their families through difficult times.
“One of the priorities in my new role is to engage with as many Naval Service families as I can in order to gain an idea of the issues that they may be facing in their communities of choice.”
All major organisations within Carmarthenshire have signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a commitment to support the Armed Forces community living and working in Carmarthenshire.
The aim is to provide easy access to support and entitlements any member of the armed forces, either regular or reserve, a veteran, family member, widow or widower needs.
