Toybox Appeal Reaches Hundreds Of Children
Over 2,000 gifts have been collected for under privileged children for Christmas.
Thanks to the council’s Toybox Appeal 574 youngsters across Carmarthenshire will receive presents for the festive period.
Thousands of children have benefited since the annual appeal, led by Carmarthenshire Council’s deputy leader, Cllr Pam Palmer, started 6 years ago.
The appeal reaches out to the public to donate presents for hundreds of children from birth to 16 years from families who can’t afford to buy them gifts or toys.
Toybins were placed at 22 locations across the county through November and into December with schools, family centres and youth and engagement workers all helping to collect and organise at Nolans Depot in Carmarthen.
The presents are now being distributed and children will receive five gifts each.
Cllr Pam Palmer said: “People have been so generous this year and I’d like to thank everyone who donated and helped support the appeal. The presents will make a huge difference to a child’s Christmas and help bring a smile to their faces.”
