Woman Fined For Dog Fouling Offence

A Llanelli woman has been fined for failing to clean up after her dog. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

She was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 by council environmental enforcement officers following the incident in New Dock Street. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The officers were on patrol in the area at the time. She told officers she had no bags on her to clean up the mess, however they explained that this was not an excuse. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Failure to pay could result in court prosecution where the maximum fine is £1,000. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “It is an offence not to clean up after your dog and anyone caught will be fined. People should make sure they have bags on them at all times. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Dog mess left anywhere can have serious health implications; it also makes an area look bad and is extremely unpleasant if you step in it.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
