Cyfarthfa High School Achieves The Investors In Families Quality Mark
The staff, children and families at Cyfarthfa High School are celebrating the fact that their school has been awarded the Investors in Families quality mark.
The award (full details are available at http://www.uwtsd.ac.uk/wcee/investors-in-families/) is made to schools that are committed to working with the whole family to improve outcomes for children. Schools have to collect evidence to show how well they are working with families and that they are family friendly and Cyfarthfa High School has become one of the over 250 schools in Wales to do this successfully.
Cyfarthfa High School is proud of its work with families and will use the award and the links to other schools that it provides to further develop its activities with families and the wider community.
Carolyn Meade, Head Teacher said:
“We have a relentless focus on maximising the potential of our pupils, having the highest expectations of what can be achieved. Our partnership with parents and carers is fundamental in providing nurture and support to our youngsters, many of whom might otherwise find it difficult to engage with the school”.
Gareth Morgan, Chair of Governors said:
“We are delighted to achieve this prestigious award which underlines the strong relationships we have built up with families over many years to the benefit of our pupils. Congratulations to all the staff, parents and carers who have contributed to the success.”
The assessment report commented positively on the range of activities that the school undertook with families and the community across a range of themes.
Chris Waterman, Executive Director of IIF said:
“We are delighted to welcome Cyfarthfa High School to the IIF family of schools. As highlighted by the DfES publication ‘Family and Community Engagement: FaCE the Challenge Together’ one of the keys to success is working with other schools and sharing ideas about how to engage families and we look forward to continuing our support to Cyfarthfa High School with this agenda.
