Social Enterprises Given Tips For Success At Merthyr Tydfil Funding Event
Merthyr Tydfil social enterprises are being invited to attend an event outlining funding sources and potential work opportunities – while also hearing how Merthyr Town Football Club reversed its fortunes from near-closure to resounding success.
Some of Wales’s leading grant-giving organisations will be giving tips on how to find funding, health and wellbeing professionals will discuss important changes to social services and Merthyr Town Secretary John Strand will talk about the club’s journey.
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s annual Funding Fair is taking place at Merthyr Town Football Clubon Wednesday, September 21, and will also be attended by representatives of the Big Lottery Fund, Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil, the Ffos-y-fran Community Benefit Fund, Merthyr Valley Homes and the Welsh Church Act.
Suzanne Davies, Local Services Board and Partnerships Manager for the Council, and Nicola Davies – Cwm Taf University Health Board Head of Health and Wellbeing – will talk about the Welsh Government’s Social Services and Wellbeing Act Population Needs Assessment.
The Assessment requires local authorities and local health boards to assess the public’s care and support needs, identifying the range and level of preventative servicesrequired.
Dr Nicola Perkins, Social Enterprise Officer from Wales and West Housing Association is set to talk about procurement opportunities for social enterprises.
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council Programme Manager,Ian Evans, said: “Not only is the fair an excellent opportunity for our wealth of social enterprises to learn about the funding support out there, but it will also give them the chance to learn about valuable procurement opportunities.”
The event will run from 9.45am – 2.30pm and be followed by lunch.
