Take Pride In Merthyr Tydfil… If You See It, Report It.
As we take a look around our County Borough, we can see the transformation of our town centre, our improved leisure facilities and a retail park that attracts people from far and wide.
With many regeneration programmes, we have seen lots of inward investment creating employment and economic growth. In the centre of our town, you can see our new 21st Century Sixth Form College, which offers state-of-the-art learning facilities for our young people.
The Jewel of the Crown of course, is Cyfarthfa Park, home to beautiful parkland and an historic castle.
So much to celebrate
There’s so much to celebrate in Merthyr Tydfil and we want residents to take pride in our beautiful County Borough. If you see something that shouldn’t be happening, such as anti-social behaviour, vandalism or fly-tipping, please report it.
We’ve already seen a positive response to our fly-tipping campaign with YOU, our residents, reporting issues, allowing us to take the appropriate action.
Graves Vandalised
But it’s not just fly-tipping that we need your help with. In May this year a Councillor was notified of a vandalised grave in Pant Cemetery. Officers were on-hand within 30 minutes to inspect the grave, which had been partially opened. Work was carried out and the grave repaired that afternoon, with further repairs undertaken by a specialist Memorial Mason to fully repair the damage.
Councillor David Jones, Portfolio Member for Neighbourhood Services & Public Protection, said: “Thankfully, these types of incident are few and far between, however this disrespectful act of vandalism is another example of unacceptable behaviour that we want to stamp out within our beautiful County Borough. Please, if you see something like this happening contact us or the Police immediately.”
