Council Hosts Engagement Forum For Residents With Disabilities

Monmouthshire County Council is to host a forum for people living with disabilities and people aged 50+ who will hear from the Welsh Government’s Wellbeing and Future Generations Commissioner’s team and representatives from the Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner. The Access for All and Ageing Well Forum will meet in County Hall, Usk on Wednesday 19th October from 11.30am to 3.30pm and the meeting will be streamed live via YouTube to allow those unable to attend to play a part. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Organised by the council and local equalities organisation, SEWREC, which runs a project called Monmouthshire Voices, the forum will provide people with disabilities and those over 50 with an opportunity to influence services, policies and decisions that affect them. Phil Hobson, the council’s cabinet member for community development and engagement will chair the meeting. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Pennie Walker of Monmouthshire Voices commented: “This is an excellent opportunity for people to have their voices heard and for service providers to hear what’s being said. This is particularly interesting as it is about the process of engagement and consultation itself. It is wonderful that our forums are proving such a success.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
