‘Balmoral’ Returns To Briton Ferry For One-Off Voyage This Summer

The historic portside and old industrial town of Briton Ferry is to play host once again to the veteran passenger ship the ‘Balmoral’ , which was built in 1949 and has now been welcoming passengers on board for over 65 years. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The historic cruise leaves the Quays wharf by Brunel Dock on Sunday August 21st, sailing at 9.00am for Ilfracombe and Lundy Island via Porthcawl and returning to Briton Ferry at 9.15pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

After being launched back into active service last year, the Balmoral is once again offering visitors a taste of post-war sea travel, as they take in the beauty of the Exmoor Coast. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Neath Port Talbot Council Leader Ali Thomas OBE said: “This cruise is now becoming an event that people in Neath Port Talbot and the surrounding area can look forward to annually. I am delighted that this veteran ship is being kept in excellent condition, and I hope that Briton Ferry will play host to the Balmoral for many years to come.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Local Councillor and organiser with the Briton Ferry Balmoral Group, Cllr Hugh James, said: “As a local councillor for the Briton Ferry west ward, I am very proud that the Balmoral has returned again to make a trip on Sunday the 21st from the Quays at Brunel Dock, to sail to Ilfracombe and Lundy Island.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
