Neath Port Talbot Council are encouraging home owners who are in need of funding to make their homes warmer, safer and more secure to get in touch and find out more about their Welsh Government funded Home Improvement Loan scheme. According to Welsh Government, figures suggest that there are more than 13,000 properties in poor condition in Wales. This can result in accidents in the home and cause various health issues which are preventable. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Subject to affordability and criteria, homeowners within Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council could be eligible for an interest-free loan up to the value of £25,000 to improve the standard of their property. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Home Improvement Loan initiative enables owners of homes in need of renovation to access low-cost, medium-term loans to make property improvements and improve the standard of homes across the whole of the county. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The loans are also an incentive to revitalise empty homes, bringing properties back onto the housing market and boosting the housing supply in Neath Port Talbot. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Subject to criteria and affordability, homeowners can apply for loans from £1,000 to £25,000 per property for a term of up to 10 years for owner occupiers and up to five years for landlords and companies. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Home Improvement Loans are recyclable up to March 2030, meaning that loan repayments can be recycled to new applicants until the scheme ends. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Council Leader, Ali Thomas OBE said “Neath Port Talbot Council is committed to improving the housing supply across the county borough. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“In addition to building new houses, we also want to give existing homeowners the opportunity to carry out improvements that will make their homes safer, warmer and more secure”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Home Improvement Loans are subject to affordability and terms and conditions apply. All loans under the scheme will be offered interest free with an administration charge of up to 15%. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
