Grants Provided for Community Projects in Neath Port Talbot Council, Including Improvements to Play Areas and IT Equipment

A number of groups will be receiving grants from Neath Port Talbot Council this month, as part of the Community Council Minor Project Scheme and the Miscellaneous Grant Fund.
It could  see local community councils and other groups recieve as much as £6,000 in funding, to help them with a number of projects to improve their services over the course of the year.
The grants were awarded last month at the council’s monthly Policy and Resources Committee, with cash given out for improvements to local play areas as well as IT equipment needed at local councils.
At the meeting it was decided that a grant of 60% of costs up to a maximum of £12,000, would be given to Crynant Community Council towards the cost of works to improve a children’s play area in the grounds of their community centre on Woodland Road.
There will also be a grant of 50% of costs up to a maximum of £10,000, given to Dyffryn Clydach Community Council, to go towards the purchase and installation of IT equipment, to help them set up a permanent office base for the clerk, along with a projector for the main hall in Duffryn Clydach Memorial Hall.
From the Miscellaneous Grant Fund, it was decided that the trustees of Pontardawe Heritage and Visitor Centre would be granted £2,600 per annum to go towards the cost of rent.
While the trustees of Bryn Bowls Club would also be granted £575 per annum, towards the cost of the renting the Bowls Pavilion at Bryn Recreation Ground, with an additional  £1,000 given to the British Red Cross  to continue to support vulnerable people within the County Borough.
Members at the meeting also heard updates on work to support members of the armed forces community in Neath Port Talbot, through their participation in the Armed Forces Covenant, which was said to have distributed around £25,000 worth of funding in Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Bridgend. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
