Pre-planning Application Submitted for Holiday Lodges in Neath Valley

A pre-planning application has been submitted to Neath Port Talbot Council this month over proposals to build a series of holiday lodges in the Neath Valley.
It could see the development of “private and premium” holiday lodges with a pool and club house based on land between the villages of Resolven and Tonna, which is currently used for commercial forestry and grazing land.
The site is located on the slopes of the Vale of Neath on a 45-hectare plot of land described as a mixture of semi-natural mixed woodland and
broad-leaf woodland habitat. It is accessed by a gated track that connects to Fairyland Road.
Planning developers have now submitted a request for a screening opinion which would decide if the application should be subjected to an environmental impact assessment before a full planning application is handed in to the local authority.
The report reads: “The proposed development is for a series of premium holiday lodges, supporting leisure facilities as well as services and supporting infrastructure (access, parking, landscape and drainage).
“The development is to be a private operation, open to the public for rental. It will include communal areas comprising a clubhouse with a pool, as well as food and drink hospitality. The entire development will be integrated into the Vale of Neath’s stunning natural landscape, as part of its unique selling point.”
The report added that it could also develop a new transport route from the B4434, between the settlements of Tonna and Clyne if given the go-ahead in the coming months.
The plans are just the latest in a series of planning requests for holiday accommodation in the Neath Port Talbot area, following the approval of multi-million pound proposals for an adventure resort in the Afan Valley, as well as proposals for  a huge hotel and leisure complex at a run-down country estate between Resolven and Cwmgwrach. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
