Time Is Running Out To Register To Vote At EU Referendum
Voters are being reminded that time is running out to register to vote in the EU Referendum on Thursday 23 June.
Voters who aren’t already registered need to make an application at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by midnight on Tuesday 7 June if they want to have their say at the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union.
Voters are also being reminded that they do not need to re-register separately for the EU Referendum if they are already correctly registered to vote at their current address.
Steven Phillips, Counting Officer for the Neath Port Talbot Voting Area said:
“The EU Referendum is an historic event and there are millions of people who will miss out on it simply because they aren’t registered to vote.
Voters are also being asked to think about where they will be on 23 June and to apply for a postal or proxy vote if they will be away from home. Voters can download the relevant forms from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.
As part of its public awareness campaign, an impartial voting guide has been sent to 28 million households across the UK, containing details on how to register, options for voting and an information page provided by each of the two lead campaign organisations.
The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Tuesday 7 June.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday 8 June.
