Young Entrepreneur Launches Outdoor Activity Business For Adventure-Seekers
Margam’s award winning Country Park has always enticed lovers of the great outdoors and its popularity has soared in recent years, with a 43% increase in visitors from 2014 to 2015 alone. Now a young entrepreneur with a passion for free-range fun sees even greater potential for the park and its increasing footfall, launching a new venture to provide a range of outdoor adventures and equipment hire.
Margam Park Adventure’ is the brainchild of Ben Bailey who will offer a wide range of activities including mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and archery.
He said: “I had worked at the park for some time and when the chance to set up my own business came around I felt it was too good an opportunity to miss.
“I believe there is tremendous potential at the park for a wide range of activities for the visitors. As well as the physical challenges I will offer, there will also be bike and go-kart hire for those who want to explore the area.”
Ben, who is accredited to provide qualifications in a range of activities, has already invested considerable time and money in his project and he will be operating from a unit in the visitors’ courtyard at Margam Castle.
“Margam Park has three lakes, renowned mountain trails, and 850 acres of parkland to explore. I really believe this will be a success and an added attraction for the park itself”, he added.
Margam Park Adventure has something for everyone and his customers are all too willing to recommend the company, leaving rave reviews on the Margam Park Adventure Facebook page.
Neath Port Talbot Council Leader, Ali Thomas OBE paid tribute to the initiative being shown by Mr Bailey.
He said: “Margam Park is a special place in Neath Port Talbot and this new, exciting start-up will give visitors the chance to explore even more of what is on offer at our award winning park.
“We encourage entrepreneurship in Neath Port Talbot and Ben’s venture was supported by a grant from the Council’s Business Development Team.
“His business will provide alternative activities for the hundreds of thousands of visitors that come to Margam Park annually. I wish him all the best.”
