Crindau Primary School in Newport to Reopen Later this Year After Structural Issues

Crindau Primary School in Newport is on track to reopen later this year, after “structural issues” forced staff and pupils to relocate.
A city council committee report shows an extra £800,000 has been earmarked for repairs at the school, and the building is currently expected to be “reoccupied in the autumn term 2026/27”.
Officers describe the required repairs as “extensive” and a “significant challenge”, with Crindau Primary’s teaching temporarily moved in June to the grounds of Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Gwenlli, two miles away.
A school newsletter, sent to parents at the end of the summer term, has set early November as the date for moving back to Crindau Primary – with blended learning expected to take place on one day either side of the October half-term holiday.
At a council scrutiny committee meeting, on Monday July 28, members heard the local authority has been carrying out more inspections of other schools, in light of the discovery at Crindau Primary. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
