Newport Cardboard Recycling Collections To Go Weekly
Wastesavers has announced that Newport residents will now have their cardboard collected weekly, starting from early June.
The charity, which collects recycling on behalf of the council, also announced it will be able to collect Tetra Pak (juice cartons) for the first time, and that a new heavy duty red sack will be introduced for plastics and cans.
The changes will be rolled out area by area with every household getting advance warning of when the new system will be affecting them.
“This is going to make recycling simpler, give residents the opportunity to recycle Tetra Pak for the first time and reduce litter problems” said Penny Goodwin, CEO of Wastesavers.
“We will also be changing what goes in each container due to the massive growth in plastic we have collected in recent years.” she continued,
Collection days will remain the same for nearly all residents.
Exact details of the changes will be given to residents as their area comes onto the new system.
