Plans for Redevelopment of Former Hair Salon in Newport Include Five New Flats and a Shop
Five new flats and a shop could be built in Newport city centre under plans for the redevelopment of a former hair salon.
The property at 36 High Street was previously a Toni and Guy salon but has stood vacant in recent years.
Black Brick Studio has requested planning permission to overhaul the building, with retail space on the ground floor.
A commercial space would be located on the level above, while the building’s second- and third floors would be redesigned to each accommodate a studio apartment and a one-bedroom flat.
The fifth home would be created on the building’s top floor, where a two-bedroom flat has been proposed.
According to the application, the property is “currently unoccupied”.
The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Newport City Council website under reference 26/0561.
