Comments Sought On Contaminated Land Strategy

Under the Contaminated Land Regulations, all local authorities in Wales must inspect land in their area for the presence of contamination, and publish a strategy detailing how to undertake the inspection process. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Pembrokeshire County Council’s first strategy was published in 2005, was first updated in 2010 and is currently being reviewed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This review builds on the former strategy, records progress made in its implementation and sets future objectives and targets. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Council is now looking for comments from the public on its full draft inspection strategy which can be viewed at: www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Dealing with contaminated land is an important issue for Pembrokeshire County Council, both in terms of preventing damage to human health and the environment, and in encouraging development on brownfield sites. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
