Council To End Contract With Home
Pembrokeshire County Council is to end its contract for the provision of residential care with the Heron’s Reef home in Llangwm.
The move follows serious concerns on how the independently-run home has been managed.
The Council’s Social Care department along with Hywel Dda University Health Board, Dyfed Powys Police and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales have been working with the owner and manager over the past several weeks to try and resolve the situation but without success.
The Council has given notice that its contract with the residential home will end on 16th June.
Pam Marsden, the Council’s Director of Social Services and Leisure, said the Authority’s priority was to ensure that the needs of all ten residents were appropriately met and that the move to alternative accommodation was managed safely
She added: “The Council will be supporting all residents individually to identify other homes and/or services that can provide the care, support and environment to ensure maximum independence and well-being.”
It is anticipated that all Herons Reef residents will have moved from the home by no later than 16th June, although some residents may move sooner if they choose.
