Date For Public Meeting Set

A public meeting is to be held on Thursday, 24th March in relation to the new consultation on English-medium secondary provision in Haverfordwest. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The meeting will be held at Pembrokeshire Archives in Prendergast, Haverfordwest between 6.30pm and 8pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Places are limited and anyone interested in attending is advised to reserve a space in advance by phoning 01437 764551. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The consultation on English-medium secondary provision in Haverfordwest was launched last week (on March 2nd) and will continue until the deadline of Thursday, 14th April. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

It can be found online at Pembrokeshire County Council’s website at www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/haveyoursay ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The consultation is asking the public to give their views on the following proposals: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

  • Discontinue Sir Thomas Picton School and Tasker Milward VC School
  • Establish a new 11-16 English medium school in Haverfordwest and to provide additional ALN provision for pupils with complex learning needs;
  • Provide post 16 provision for the above school in a new sixth form centre as part of a formal collaboration between the County Council and Pembrokeshire College with some accommodation co-located on the site of the 11-16 school;
  • Express a preference to implement a Hub and Spoke model when and where it is practicable to do so.

The County Council will also be holding drop-in sessions on Tuesday, 15th and Wednesday 16th March at Pembrokeshire Archives in Prendergast, Haverfordwest. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Representatives from the County Council and Pembrokeshire College will be available to answer questions about the consultation process and the proposals. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The closing date for consultation responses is Thursday 14th April 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
