Local libraries are supporting a nationwide campaign this month to encourage people to reduce their alcohol intake. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Dry January, which is run by Alcohol Concern, encourages people to go without alcohol during the month of January and promotes the benefits of cutting back on your alcohol consumption. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Throughout January, Marc Mordey from Alcohol Concern will be visiting several Pembrokeshire libraries to offer advice and support to anyone looking to reduce the amount they drink. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The full list of Dry January events is as follows: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Tuesday 10th January (1pm-4pm) – Haverfordwest Library and Information Centre
Thursday 19th January (1pm-4pm) – Pembroke Dock Library
Tuesday 31st January (10:30am-1:30pm) – Fishguard Library ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In addition to the information events, libraries in Fishguard and Tenby will also have a dedicated display of books related to alcohol consumption, which will be circulated to other libraries in the county throughout the year. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Alcohol Concern’s Andrew Misell described the important role of libraries in Dry January. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Libraries are great places to get information and get involved in your community. They are already alcohol-free social hubs, so it’s only natural that Pembrokeshire libraries are turning themselves into Dry January hubs for a month.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Anyone wishing to find out more about Dry January can use the free internet access available at all libraries in Pembrokeshire to log on to the dedicated website at www.alcoholconcern.org.uk/dry-january ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
