Football Success For Tenby
The talented young Footballers of Tenby VC School stand on the cusp of representing Swansea City in a National competition after winning the Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Mixed tournament recently.
The Mini Messi’s and potential Pirlo’s beat Pembroke’s Golden Grove school 3-0 in the final of the competition and now have the chance to represent the Swans providing they can succeed in the next round of the Premier League Schools Tournament.
Tenby are now in training for the regional qualifier matches against teams from Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.
Whoever wins that will represent Swansea in the Premier League Schools Tournament at Stanford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC.
The annual tournament was organised by Sport Pembrokeshire Active Young People Primary School Officer Barry John and Swansea City FC Community Trust Officer, Ceri Philips.
Sport Pembrokeshire is Pembrokeshire County Council’s sport development section.
Over 80 children from 11 schools competed on the day with the schools split into two pools, the winners of each progressing to the final.
Tenby came out on top in Group A after beating Tavernspite, Monkton, St Teilos, St Oswalds and Pennar while Golden Grove beat St Marks, Narberth, Saundersfoot and Templeton in Group B.
