Garden Dwelling Appeal Lost
A Planning Inspector has upheld a decision by Pembrokeshire County Council to refuse planning permission for a detached dwelling in the garden of another property.
Appellants Steve and Sally Hughes wanted to build the dwelling in the rear garden of West View, St Florence, which is occupied by close relatives.
But the planning application – which also included improvements to the existing vehicular access – was refused last September by County Council planners because of concerns regarding noise and disturbance from use of the driveway which runs close to the front of West View.
In dismissing the appeal, Melissa Hall, the planning inspector, said that while she acknowledged that both families were closely related, she had to have regard to the living conditions of future occupants of West View.
