Great Response To New Facilities At Tenby Leisure Centre

The new facilities at Tenby Leisure Centre have transformed it from a purely an exercise centre to a sociable fitness and leisure hub, according to manager Darren Bowen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The first phase of the refurbishment of the centre was completed earlier this month, unveiling a state-of-the-art fitness suite, brand new cafe, and re-modelled reception area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Darren said: “The new facilities are a great place for people to exercise, socialise and to be supported in achieving their goals. It’s a place to come and meet like minded people, have a meal or just relax.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The new fitness suite has brand new Technogym equipment including cardiovascular equipment, resistance training machines and a free weights area. It also has a new Omnia Functional Training Station – a functional training concept which suits varied, group training activities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The café, operated by Feel Good Inc, has a range of healthy food options, snacks and great coffee. The cafe owner, Rhys Jordan, is a local fitness enthusiast who is a strong supporter of local produce. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The Café is set in the open plan reception area and is already a popular social area for the centre’s users and members of the public, as it’s open for the early risers right through to the evening,” said Darren. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Phase 2 of the improvements is currently underway. It includes some groundwork to the front of the building, refurbishment of the dry-side changing rooms and conversion of the previous fitness suite on the lower ground floor to an exercise studio. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Access to the building is via the main entrance, which can be reached by following the path around to the front of the building. Parking is currently limited. However, there is a substantial overflow car park directly opposite the entrance. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“All is currently being done to ensure that these works cause minimal disruption,” said Darren. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
