Joint Statement On Behalf Of Pembrokeshire County Council
At a hearing of the Staff Disciplinary and Dismissal Appeals Committee of the Governing body of Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Fishguard, held on 13th and 14th December, one allegation of gross misconduct was upheld against the headteacher, Irwyn Wilcox, and the decision was made that he should be dismissed.
This concludes the statutory process.
The headteacher had been suspended from his duties at the school since November 2015.
Current temporary management arrangements at the school will continue until permanent arrangements can be put in place.
This has been an unsettling period for the school community. The local authority, governing body and staff now look forward to working together in the future in the best interests of the school.
The local authority and governing body will not be making any further statement at this time.
