Neyland Pupils Visit County Hall

Pupils from Neyland Community School had plenty of questions to put to the Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Cllr Wynne Evans, when they visited County Hall this week! ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Subjects ranged from recycling to cyber bullying, using the Welsh language, and green spaces – not to mention what County Councillors talk about in their meetings and how well they deal with people’s problems. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Chairman enjoyed answering their questions in the Council chamber together with Councillor Paul Miller, the member for Neyland West. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Terrific school and great questions,” said Cllr Wynne Evans, who also took the pupils, headteacher Elizabeth Griffiths and teacher Gemma Morris on a behind-the-scenes tour of various departments in County Hall. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The pupils – who represented the School Council, the E Safety Committee, the Eco Club and the Clwb Cymraeg – also enjoyed a presentation and question and answer session from Lee Simmons of Mid and West Wales Fire Brigade. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Headteacher Mrs Griffiths said: “We all had a really informative visit. It was a great opportunity to see different departments and the work that goes on. Our pupils had a chance to ask questions that were important to them. It was an experience they will remember for a long time.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
