Pupils Design County Hall Xmas Cards
Pupils from local primary schools have designed Pembrokeshire County Council’s Christmas cards this year.
The drawings of Spittal Church in Wales VC school pupils Cerys Davies, aged 10, and Mia Burnett, 8, together with eight-year-old Olivia Beal of Coastlands CP school in Spittal, were chosen out of hundreds of other entries in a competition to design a printed seasonal card for County Hall with a local theme.
Cerys’s painting of St Davids Cathedral was selected to adorn the card of Chairman Tony Brinsden while Mia’s entry was chosen for the card sent by Council Leader, Jamie Adams. It showed Santa and his reindeer making their way over the Preseli hills.
The card sent by Chief Executive Ian Westley shows Olivia’s painting of a Christmas tree besides Marloes Church.
Other pupils also contributed designs used on the Council’s electronic Christmas cards.
They were: Bryan Griffiths (Portfield school, Haverfordwest); Bethany Watts (Milford Haven); Ffion Spillane (Meads Infant and Nursery, Milford Haven); Bethany-Jo Hayes (St Francis, Milford Haven); Rhoa Jungman (Tavernspite); Hywel Mansell (St Oswald’s Church in Wales VA, Jeffreyston); Emily Wonnacott (Mount Airey, Haverfordwest); Alfie Buckle, Amy Richards and Emily Ralph (Stepping Stones, Neyland) and Carly Yates (Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Fishguard).
“This is a great way to showcase the artistic talent of our young people” said Mr Westley. “The pupils certainly embraced the competition and I congratulate them on their efforts which were colourful and inventive.”
