Rogue Mattress-Sellers Warning
Pembrokeshire Trading Standards and Dyfed-Powys Police are warning residents not to get caught out by rogue mattress-sellers after receiving reports that people are being stopped in the street by men offering mattresses for sale from the back of a van.
Where any have been sold, no paperwork appears to have been issued, identifying the business and notifying consumers of their right to a 14 day cooling-off period, which is a legal requirement.
Trading Standards officers warn that the mattresses may be of inferior quality, may not confirm to British safety standards for flammability and the price paid may be over-inflated.
Furthermore, they emphasise, there is little prospect of seeking any redress.
Anyone see anything suspicious or have approaches made to them, should report the matter to Citizens Advice Consumer Service on: 0345 404 0506 / 0345 404 0505 (for Welsh speakers) or contact the police on 101.
