A Slice Of The Action!
A fun-filled weekend is on the menu with the return of the Big Welsh Bite, showcasing all of the mouth-watering culinary delights that are being served up across our County Borough.
Organised by the Council, Big Welsh Bite 2016 takes place at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd – the home of the National Lido of Wales – on August 6-7.
Among the many attractions over the weekend will be cookery demonstrations with our residential chef Geoff Tookey.
There will also be a fine array of food and craft stalls, packed full of local produce all grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholders themselves.
Master chef Geoff Tookey is a firm Big Welsh Bite favourite, making a welcome return to serve up some mouth-watering dishes for visitors.
Having worked in the highly-competitive catering industry for over 35 years, at many of the UK’s finest hotels and restaurants, Geoff has a wealth of experience which he is keen to share at this year’s Big Welsh Bite.
He has also held the position of Executive Head Chef, catering for Her Majesty The Queen and other heads of state and many celebrities.
There promises to be fun for all the family over the two-days, with arena acts such as Duck Driving, Birds of Prey and Racing Llamas, plus a visit to the farm area and Silent World Aquarium is a must for all ages.
Recreating a rock pool in Pontypridd, the Silent World Aquarium will feature many of the creatures you would normally find in a rock pool at the beach.
Also keep an eye open for our stilt-walking chef, who will be keeping himself busy on the showground, along with roller-skating Tomato and Peach!
Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “There will be so much to see and do at this year’s Big Welsh Bite, with fun and attractions for all ages.
“Big Welsh Bite, our annual two-day Welsh Food Festival, attracts thousands of visitors from all over the County Borough and Wales.
“Now into its 13th year, the Welsh Food Festival not only promotes all that we have to offer in Rhondda Cynon Taf, but it is also an event that all of the family can enjoy.”
