Llantwit Fardre’s New Look Gym Open
Llantwit Fardre Sports Centre’s new-look gym is open and ready for use.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, officially re-opened the gym on Thursday.
It’s the latest in a series of leisure centres to benefit from the Council’s ongoing Leisure Investment programme under the wider £200m RCT Invest programme.
While it is one of the Council’s smaller facilities, Llantwit Fardre provides a popular and valued service to its residents, who enjoy the gym, range of fitness classes and indoor sports on offer there.
The recent larger-scale renovations at other leisure centres – Hawthorn, Bronwydd, Rhondda, Abercynon and Sobell – gave the Council the opportunity to install new – and refurbish existing – gym equipment at Llantwit Fardre.
After just a few weeks work, the gym has been given a fresh new look with Leisure for Life branding and the new and refurbished equipment is in place.
This includes four new treadmills, three cross trainers and a new exercise bike.
Cllr Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “Llantwit Fardre is the latest in a series of leisure facilities to benefit from our three year, £200m RCTinvest programme which is also delivering improvements to play areas, highways, schools and more across the county borough.
“Not only is this investment improving and modernising the facilities on offer for the benefit of existing members, it is also attracting new customers in their hundreds to our leisure centres, where they enjoy flexible, affordable memberships and a healthier way of life.
“There are currently 1,000 more people who are members of Leisure for Life than this time last year.
“Llantwit Fardre is one of our smaller centres, but it is well used by the local community and the new-look gym adds another new facility to benefit residents of all ages.
“Tonyrefail Leisure Centre is set to be the next facility to benefit from RCTinvest with work set to start in November on the new school, upgrades to the leisure centre and a new community 3G pitch.”
Existing Leisure for Life members are reminded they can enjoy unlimited access to the gym, indoor sports and fitness classes at Llantwit Fardre and all other Council leisure centres.
People who have not yet taken advantage of a Leisure for Life membership are encouraged to find out more as it offers unlimited access to gym, swim, indoor sports and fitness classes across all Council leisure centre.
Memberships start from £35 a month, with £21 a month concessionary rates for junior and senior members and a corporate membership of £26.25 a month if you work for or are a member of one of the Council’s corporate partners.
