Lulu Coming To Rhondda Cynon Taf!
Music legend Lulu is heading to Rhondda Cynon Taf this week (Wednesday) as part of her UK-wide theatre tour.
The Grammy-nominated singer will be performing hits from her 50-year music career at the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, on Wednesday, April 13.
Lulu became a household name when selected as the UK entry at the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest in Madrid with Boom Bang-a-Bang. In1974 she performed the title song of the James Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun.
Some of her many other chart-topping hits include Shout ,The Boat That I Row, To Sir With Love, Let’s Pretend, The Man Who Sold The World and Relight My Fire, her 1993 collaboration with Take That.
In 2015 she performed at Glastonbury, released her first self-penned album and also announced her new solo tour – her first for 10 years.
The Rhondda Cynon Taf concert, for one night only, will also feature songs from some of Lulu’s musical heroes such as soul legends Ray Charles and Otis Reading.
She will also be taking the audience on a musical journey recalling many of her personal anecdotes and song-writing experiences.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of the calibre of Lulu to our RCT Theatres. I am sure the show will be a huge success.
“We have lots of great shows and concerts planned at the Coliseum Theatre and the Park & Dare Theatre throughout 2016. Please take advantage of the shows on our doorstep and support our theatres.”
An Evening with Lulu is at the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 (8pm).
