Our GCSE Students Celebrate Results
Students across the County Borough are celebrating record GCSE results – the best ever for Rhondda Cynon Taf.
More students from Rhondda Cynon Taf than ever before have achieved GSCE success this year,.
A total of 2,691 pupils from the County Borough sat examinations in 2016, compared to 2,617 the previous year.
Latest figures show that 98.4 per cent of students in the County Borough who sat the exams this summer achieved GCSE grades A* to G, with62.8 per centsecuring GCSE grades A*-C grades, compared to 62.2 per cent in 2015.
A total of 14.9 per cent of students also achieved A*-A grades.
Cllr Eudine Hanagan, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, spent the day visiting as many comprehensive schools as possible, chatting to staff and also congratulating the pupils on their individual successes.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our GCSE students on their amazing results and also pay tribute to the support they receive from their respective families and schools.
“All of that hard work and dedication has certainly paid off in 2016 and the GCSE results today are a great testament to the commitment of pupils across our County Borough.
“These results also demonstrate, once again, how we should all be rightly proud of our young people.
“Visiting so many schools on results day is always a great joy for me. To see the delight on the faces of our students after all their hard work is such a rewarding experience.
“Education remains a key priority for the Council and we are totally committed to providing opportunities for all young people to go on to achieve their full potential through a range of support services and through significant investment in educational facilities across the county borough.”
