Supporting Local Businesses at Meet the Buyer event
Local businesses looking to expand, network and secure new contracts enjoyed the eighth annual Meet the Buyer Event this month.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Procurement Service hosts the Meet the Buyer every year, bringing together key businesses, public sector buying organisations and industry experts to offer a valuable information and networking opportunity.
Opened by Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Council Business, the 2016 event was held at Llantrisant Leisure Centre and welcomed 216 attendees from 162 different organisations.
Cllr Webber explained: “Meet the Buyer is an important event organised by our Procurement Services team to help local businesses expand and grow.
“As well as offering key information and advice to help those businesses secure contracts locally, it also enables networking and the sharing of best practice.
“There are a wide range of organisations in Rhondda Cynon Taf looking to purchase services, systems and products and each of them are committed to spending and investing locally where possible.
“Meet the Buyer brings these purchasing authorities and local businesses together.”
A total of 216 people from 162 organisations attended the event, which also welcomed representatives from public sector buying organisations including the National Procurement Service, Network Rail, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Cwm Taf University Health Board, Coleg Gwent, RCT Homes, Cynon Taf Housing Group, the Ministry of Defence and RCT Procurement.
Support organisations that attended included Business Wales, Construction Future Wales, Finance Wales, RCT Enterprise, Constructionline, Job Centre Plus, Princes Trust, the Acorn Group and RCT Employment, Education and Training.
