Work To Begin On New Public 3g Pitch In Rhondda
Work is set to start on new artificial playing field in Pentre, thanks to a quarter-of-a-million pound investment by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
Contractors have been appointment and construction is due to begin on the site at Pentre Park during September.
This investment is part of the £200m RCT investment programme brought forward by Cllr Andrew Morgan and his Cabinet, which will see a modern state of the art 3G sports pitch made available to the community and sporting clubs in Pentre.
This 3G pitch will replace the current Astroturf at Pentre Park. Council Leader Andrew Morgan highlighted that this facility is yet another example of investment in the Rhondda by the Council.
County Borough Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council said: “The Council is investing in a range of areas which are important to local residents and their communities and facilities for sporting activities is one of the areas benefiting from the £200m RCT Invest programme delivered by the Cabinet.
“Pentre is one of the latest areas set to benefit, with work shortly due to begin on this state of the art 3G All-Weather playing surface.
“This facility will provide huge opportunities for local clubs and the community through the increased capacity the facility will offer for recreation, training and fixtures.
“This will be the first wholly public artificial pitch in the Rhondda Valley and the news of this investment has already been warmly welcomed by local residents and sporting clubs.
“This is yet another example of investment in the Rhondda being undertaken by the Council, following the new fitness facilities at Bronwydd Pool and the major revamp of Rhondda Sports Centre, all in addition to the major infrastructure and other facilities improvements taking place in the Valley.”
