Ygg Ynyswen Car Parking Improvements
The parking limitations which currently exist around YGG Ynyswen are to be tackled with the introduction of additional parking spaces on the site of the former Ynyswen Infant School.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will invest £16k in making additional parking available in response to issues raised by residents about the current parking provision in the area.
Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “As a result of the concerns raised by residents in the area of YGG Ynyswen, I asked officers to develop plans to utilise part of the former Ynyswen Infant School site as additional car parking.
“The works will include the widening of the main gate opening onto the highway, a new access gate and ramp, improvements to the surfacing of the area and the addition of parking bays.
“This is a much needed investment which will help to relieve the pressure currently felt by residents and parents when children are dropped off and picked up from YGG Ynyswen.
“Work will now be carried out over the summer holidays and are planned to be complete by the start of the new academic year in September.
“This work in Ynyswen forms part of our wider RCTinvest programme which will see £200m invested over the next three years in priority areas such as schools, highways, leisure centres, play areas and town and village centres.”
Work to deliver this investment will begin shortly and will result in the creation of a new car park to relieve pressures around YGG Ynyswen during school drop off and pick up times.
