New Video Promotes Legendary Adventures In Swansea Bay

Visit Swansea Bay’s official tourism website has been refreshed and given a new look for 2017. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The site, which received almost two million page views last year, is set to attract even more visitors to Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower by offering a better user experience. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Swansea Council investment in the website has enabled the tourism team to showcase new and inspirational destination images, while giving visitors more detailed information on the area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The site is also promoting the new ‘Legends’ video, which forms part of the council’s Legendary Adventures campaign, supporting the Visit Wales ‘Year of Legends’ running throughout 2017. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The new video is looking to attract families to spend a holiday in Swansea Bay by focussing on a legendary adventure that includes shelter building, foraging and bushcraft to promote a visitor experience connected with our ancestors and how they lived on Gower many years ago. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Our tourism team works closely with Swansea tourism businesses in both the public and private sector – many of whom are our marketing partners – to continually raise Swansea Bay’s profile and improve the tourism offer that’s available here. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The second in a series, this imaginative new video is being promoted by an innovative digital campaign, both on Visit Swansea Bay’s social media accounts and on high profile websites such as Trip Advisor, Countryfile and Coast. The video has also been sent to our marketing partners to encourage shares and further raise the destination’s global profile. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“From rugged coastal scenery and lush forests to landscapes that inspired the work of many famous artists and poets such as Dylan Thomas, Swansea Bay is a great place for adventure for people of all ages. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We hope this new campaign will further boost a tourism industry that’s already worth more than £400m to the local economy.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

People are being asked to use #LiveTheLegend on social media when sharing their own favourite Swansea Bay legendary experiences, whether it’s a tale of bygone smugglers, a medieval myth or simply a great holiday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Swansea Council is also working in partnership with Neath, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire on a regional campaign to promote ‘Legendary Adventures’ across the wider Swansea Bay City Region. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
