Pothole Problems On Fabian Way Set To Be Fixed

Pothole repairs and drain cleaning are set to be carried out along Swansea’s Fabian Way in a bid to tackle requests by motorists. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Swansea Council is aiming to tackle a series of on-going issues along the busy route by closing one lane each day during the week. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The work includes repairing potholes, clearing drains of blockages and also sweeping the road to remove litter and other debris. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The council says the work will be carried out off-peak between 9.30am and 3pm in a bid to minimise disruption for motorists. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Works start on Tuesday January 24 and will take place throughout the rest of the week until Friday January 27. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr David Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation, said: “Fabian Way is one of our busiest routes and this makes it difficult to carry out all the work we need to in a short space of time. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Closing one lane each day means we can send in our teams and do all the work we need to do and get the road fully re-opened by the end of the week. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Motorists have been in touch with us for some time about a number of potholes on Fabian Way that have been getting worse, so we need to get in there and make more permanent repairs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We are mindful of the busy nature of the road, which is why we are carrying out the work off-peak.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
