Two More Exotic Reptiles Are Settling Into Their New Lives In Swansea
Cuddles, a 10-year-old reticulated python, and Haku, an Asian water monitor, have now been added to Plantasia’s diverse collection of animal and plant life.
About 11 foot long, Cuddles takes over from Gypsy, the 30-year-old Burmese python, who sadly died in December after many years at Plantasia.
Haku, who could grow up to five foot long, is a species of lizard typically found in Southeast Asia and was named by Plantasia visitor Lisa Kedward, who’ll soon be going along to the Parc Tawe attraction to meet the new member of the family.
Swansea Council runs Plantasia.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Gypsy’s death was very sad, but we’re delighted to welcome two new members to the Plantasia family.
“The arrival of Cuddles and Haku adds to an already extensive collection of animals and plants at the attraction that captivate and educate visitors from Swansea and much further afield.
“Monkeys, tropical fish and exotic birds are among the other creatures people can discover in Plantasia, which also gives visitors the chance to learn about life in the rainforest.”
Forthcoming events at Plantasia include ‘Animal Zone: Rainforest Adventure’ from Tuesday February 21 to Thursday February 23, with shows taking place each day at 10.30am, 12 noon, 2pm and 3.15pm.
This educational and interactive event will allow visitors to come face to face with reptiles and invertebrates, and also focus on the importance of protecting the world’s rainforests.
