Visitor Information Points Popping Up Across Swansea Bay

Tourism businesses across Swansea Bay are becoming Visitor Information Points. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

More than 20 businesses from the tip of Gower to the rural north of Swansea are now ready and willing to ensure visitors to the destination have access to first class information on places to stay, things to do and where to eat out. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Visitor Information Point stickers have been put up in the windows of the businesses taking part in the new initiative. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The scheme, launched to coincide with the start of the school summer holidays, has come about thanks to close partnership working between Swansea Council and the tourism sector across Swansea Bay. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Our experienced Visit Swansea Bay marketing partners were already providing a visitor information service as part of their day-to-day activities, but this new scheme means we’re working in even closer partnership with them to further improve this valuable resource under the banner of Swansea Bay Visitor Information Points. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Wherever visitors see the VIP window sticker, they can be assured of a warm welcome and the availability of helpful information to further improve their stay and experience in Swansea Bay. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Tourism is now worth over £400m a year to the local economy, and we’re determined to keep on raising the bar. Initiatives of this kind demonstrate the effective collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve the visitor experience in Swansea Bay, helping raise the destination’s profile and attract more people from across the UK and further afield.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Visitor Information Points will use the official Visit Swansea Bay destination website as a source of up-to-date and accurate details on things to do, including last-minute accommodation deals, special offers and general visitor information. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Swansea Council’s tourism team is using www.visitswanseabay.com and social media channels to promote the Visitor Information Points. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“This initiative will also help move visitors around Swansea Bay and introduce them to other local tourism businesses, generating additional spend in the area,” said Cllr Francis-Davies. “There’s still time for other businesses to sign up to take part, so I’d urge anyone interested to get in touch.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
