Waterfront Winterland Returns To Museum Park
Waterfront Winterland returns once again to Museum Park this Friday evening (November 18).
Opening at 5pm, the attraction will again feature the Admiral ice rink, a children’s ice rink and a festive family funfair.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy views of Swansea Bay from the Big Wheel, as well as Santa’s grotto in association with the National Waterfront Museum and a variety of food and drink at a number of Alpine-style dining cabins.
Swansea Council is behind Waterfront Winterland, which will run until Sunday January 8.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Since being first introduced in 2006, Waterfront Winterland has become an essential part of Christmas in Swansea, and excitement builds the minute the Big Wheel starts to go up.
“Offering fun for all the family, the attraction is an ideal place to get into the swing of Christmas, starting with a skate around the rink or sitting back and enjoying the spectacular views of Swansea Bay from the Big Wheel.
“We’re delighted to welcome Admiral once again as our main ice rink sponsor. We’re sure that Waterfront Winterland 2016 will once again bring some festive fun and laughter for those returning to the rink or trying it for the first time over the festive season and into the first week of the New Year.”
Also returning to Swansea is the Christmas Market on Oxford Street, running from Thursday November 24 to Wednesday December 21, complementing a Santa’s grotto attraction on Portland Street that runs between the same dates.
Swansea Market will be open on Sundays in the build-up to Christmas, with late-night shopping being made available in the city centre on Thursday evenings.
Free parking at St David’s multi-storey car park after 3pm is also now available over the Christmas period, thanks to Swansea Council.
A number of festive concerts have been organised for the Brangwyn Hall, including a Christmas homecoming performance from Katherine Jenkins on December 1, Handel’s Messiah on December 18, and Christmas by Candlelight on December 23.
