Swansea University Academics Launch Children’s Nursing Book
Two Nursing academics from Swansea University’s College of Human and Health Sciences recently launched their new book in John Smith’s Bookshop, Swansea University.
Alyson Davies and Ruth Davies launched Children and Young People’s Nursing: Principles for Practice.
Underpinned by a rights-based approach, this essential text critically analyses the theory and practice of children and young people’s nursing from several perspectives – public health, acute and community based care, education and research. Chapters address the clinical, legal, ethical, political and professional issues and controversies which impact on the care delivered to children, young people and their families both nationally and internationally. This new edition continues to promote reflection and critical thinking about the practice of children’s nursing and professional development.
Alyson Davies, a Senior Lecturer in Children and Young People’s Nursing, who co-edited the book said: “The book contains chapters written by staff from the College of Human and Health Sciences and also from eminent children’s nurses from clinical practice and academia. The book takes a rights based approach to the nursing care of children, young people and their families. The launch was an opportunity to celebrate the work of all our colleagues who contributed to the book. It was also an opportunity to thank our own children’s nursing students who were involved in choosing the front cover.”
